Just a big thanks to CrossFit AEON, for all the epic Coaching you’ve given me and for the personal growth that I have had! I finally finished my first 3 months and think i only had like 4 days off ! I said I’d go hard or go home, turns out I’m never going home – just going to keep going hard. Seriously though I’m fully stoked I bloody love CrossFit ay – like so much I don’t think I could ever not do it. I guess a big part of that is not just the epic training but the whole community feeling going on at AEON, such a good thing – dig it – love it – and I’ll keep coming back!
I have more energy, I am motivated to become better and am not tired of showing up at the box. The great thing about CrossFit is it never gets old. You can always improve and the sensation of achieving your first pull up or your first double under or whatever it may be is incredible.
The CrossFit AEON box is one that I look forward to going to even at 5:30am, the coaches are awesome, they know what they are talking about and encourage you and help you get through it when you are having difficulties. They are approachable, friendly and a good laugh!
People ask me when am I going to stop CrossFit and I think it’s a silly question. I don’t believe that there will be a time that I will stop CrossFit. It is a part of my lifestyle now and I don’t need to force myself to get to the box everyday. I go because I really want to be there. The community at CrossFit AEON is great, I love training with the people I train with and the coaches know my name and know what I am capable of. They are there for support and motivation and play a huge role in why I turn up every day!
It obviously takes hard work and dedication but it doesn’t feel like I am making myself do something I don’t want to do to achieve the results that I want. Like I said the coaches at CrossFit AEON and their awesomeness play a huge role in my success and I couldn’t see myself training anywhere else!
After I moved to Australia, to make a fresh start of things. I joined a small gym in Perth where I lived at the time. In the year that I lived in Perth, I was using an awesome personal trainer twice a week – At a cost then of about $90 a week. I still had my Gym fees on top of that. I came down to about 105kg during this year – and thought I felt great.
I then moved to Melbourne for a year, found another small gym, and personal trainer. I managed to get the PT down to once a week – still $50 a time though. I managed to maintain my weight at this level.
After an awesome year in Melbourne, I then moved to the Gold Coast, and discovered Crossfit. Wow. I thought I was relatively fit until I started trying Crossfit. However, the best thing about Crossfit, is that it’s scalable and suitable for everyone. We had to learn (well – relearn) things like skipping, handstands and even basic things like squatting, as well as new things like barbell work, rings and bars.
I recently moved house on the Gold Coast, which meant I was looking for a new ‘box’ – luckily, Aeon was just newly opened. The facility there is second to none. I travel constantly for work, and have a box I go to in just about every city in Australia – so I know what I am speaking about. The level of coaching and mentoring is amazing, and the use of new technology, such as slow motion video reply on your lifting means that you can completely understand how you need to improve your technique. Movements I hated, such as Deadlifts, have all of a sudden made sense. The equipment is all brand new in the box and there is plenty of it. From a personal level, I think I have beaten all my previous PB in the space of 2 months.. Aeon is building a great little community in Varsity Lakes, with constant new faces to be seen in the box. Aeon’s policy of a maximum of 10 people a class is great, and they have plenty of trainers – so you are always guarenteed personal attention.
Crossfit has allowed me to go one step beyond what I thought I could ever do. I wish I found it sooner in so many ways. First of all, I would have saved a shed load of cash. I thought you had to be fit to start Crossfit, which isn’t right – it’s all scaleable – so the trainers work with your abilities and I am still given more, or less, personal training every time I walk in the box. I’m now down at around 90kg, which is the first time in my adult life I’ve not been classed as Obese on the BMI scale. I ran the Gold Coast half Marathon (in my kilt!) in 1hr 46min. I’ve done Adventure Races, Swim-Run’s and Tough Mudder. I could never have done any of that without Crossfit.
So go on – what have you got to loose? Give it a try!!
I have been involved in sports both as an athlete and a coach from grass roots level, all the way up to international competition. My dealings with CrossFit over the last 18 months have left me wishing I had found it decades ago!
The functionality of the program is without equal. The boys at CrossFit AEON run a structured, safe & friendly environment providing quality training, nutritional advice & the motivation that makes you want to get out of bed at 5am every day. I have become stronger, fitter & faster. I have seen improvements from increased energy levels to improved mobility & posture.
Stop wasting your time doing the same boring thing at the gym & join a place where every training day is different & the people are motivating, friendly, knowledgeable & are helping you to exceed your goals!
I started at CrossFit AEON, as a sloppy eating 18 year old, just for fun with a friend (he was joining the army). At the time I was going to the gym doing chest & tri’s, back & bi’s; all that rubbish.
CrossFit has taught me to look after my body; to eat well, sleep better and train harder. I was noticing changes with myself after just 2 weeks! Starting training at CrossFit AEON is defiantly one of the best decisions I have ever made; so get into it!
-Paleo is the way to go! I have barely had any dairy, wheat, rice or corn products for the past 3 1/2 months and do not even get cravings! Fresh meat, vegetables, fruit and nuts are not just sustainable but satisfying and eating Paleo has completely cleansed my dietary system.
-My fitness has improved beyond my expectations. The two movements I enjoy the most are running (which i could barely do before) and cleans. Although I’m not the fittest or strongest at the box, setting my own personal goals has been so rewarding. Progressing through bands on my pull ups and completing my first 5km run are only the tip of the iceberg.
-Crossfit has taught me to be stronger physically and mentally. Giving up is not an option and neither is being lazy. The best thing about being taught to focus on achieving the perfect technique is that I have become a more disciplined and motivated person. This transpires to so many of my daily activities not just diet and exercise. My sleep patterns have drastically improved and so too have my Uni grades.
-The advice I offer people is that firstly nothing like this happens overnight! There are no quick fixes so be determined and stick to it! Secondly do not put off your fitness, it’s so important and that was the biggest mistake I made, I could have been a fitter, stronger person years ago and I only wish I had discovered Crossfit earlier. Lastly, I’ve already formed so many friendships with such great people, so enjoy the experience and form bonds by achieving things you didn’t think you could do before!
On a Final point
Thank you so much to the CrossFit AEON Team, you guys have changed my life and are truly awesome!
So I once was one of those people that would jump on the scales in front of the mirror any chance I had. I’ve been ‘bulking’ for 3 years now & I have had some success, but the mind tricks that the scales & mirrors played on me was doing my head in. So I decided a change was in order…
I came across CrossFit, not knowing anything about it. I searched around for the best gym I could find and found CrossFit AEON. 2 weeks after I gave them a call, I finished my ‘Elements Course’ & learnt all the different styles of training CrossFit involves, like olympic lifting, gymnastics & heaps of other styles.
I’m 2.5 months into my training now, and I’m 100% HOOKED! I’ve quit my old gym & now I am fitter, faster, stronger & leaner than ever before! I’ve never felt better & best of all, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in! I now have goals to compete in the CrossFit Games, It’s still a long road ahead but I’m loving every minute of it!
A big thank you to all the CrossFit AEON boys for teaching me the skills & showing me the light! Cheers!
I was going to the gym 5 days a week, doing the same old exercises over and over and I wasn’t seeing any results, until I came to CrossFit AEON in the beginning of 2012. I was very nervous about training at a new place I knew nothing about, but when I walked in the doors, Tye, Guy & Cam made me feel very welcome.
Well I have been training at AEON for 6 months, training 5 classes a week and I have never looked back! Everyone is very supportive and encouraging, and all workouts are scalable to your personal needs. I have so much more energy and absolutely love waking up every morning knowing there is a different workout for the day.
I have had to buy new workout clothes as I am fitter & stronger than every before. My only regret is not discovering CrossFit AEON earlier. Thanks Tye, Guy & Cam!
